The station was opened on September 21, 1924 as part of the first line of the line. Despite the fact that all the stations south of Broadway Junction were opened as early as 1906 , then they were not part of this line, so it is considered that the 1924 line is the first.
Passenger traffic at the station was not always so huge. Its sharp increase has been observed since 2000 , when the station served an average of just over 10,000 passengers per day. Since then, this area has been landscaped: new houses were built, which in turn attracted people and they settled here. For seven years (by 2007 ) passenger traffic has increased by more than 50% and has already reached about 16,000 passengers per day. In 2008, the station served 18,000 people a day, which made it the 53rd busiest in the entire system and one of the busiest in Brooklyn .
The growth of passenger traffic on the line as a whole (thanks also to this station) makes travel uncomfortable for both passengers and metro workers. Trains L run crowded almost 24 hours a day. In 2011, the station discussed more than 7 million people, that is, an average of 22.5 thousand passengers per day. The MTA management company is aware of the magnitude of the problem and in every way tries to unload both individual stations and the line as a whole.
The station is represented by one island platform. The platforms are decorated in the standard way: the walls are tiled. Under the ceiling there is a mosaic ornament. The name of the station is also lined with mosaics on the walls and on the columns.
The station has two exits located at both ends of the station. West (round-the-clock) exit leads to Bedford Avenue and North 7th Street , and East Road to Bedford Avenue and Driggs Avenue .
