Phil Donahue ( born Phillip John “Phil” Donahue ; born December 21, 1935, Cleveland, Ohio, USA [1] ) is an American journalist , television presenter and director .

Education
- In 1953, Donahue became a member of the first graduation of St. Edward High School.
- He graduated from the University of Notre Dame , becoming a bachelor of business administration in 1957 [3] .
Television
- He started as an assistant director on KYW radio station and on television in Cleveland.
- He worked as a freelance correspondent for the CBS channel in the evening news release.
- Led the morning issue of the latest news on the WHIO-TV channel in Ohio .
- On November 6, 1967, he launched his own Phil Donahue Show (WDTN) in Dayton, Ohio.
- January 22, 1986 Donahue arrived in the USSR (Leningrad, Kiev, Moscow). In the same year, his shows were broadcast on Soviet television, which promoted the talk show genre in Russia.
- Until 1996, along with Vladimir Pozner, he runs the weekly Posner & Donahue program on CNBC .
- In May 1996, the last issue of the Phil Donahue Show program was released, which was the record-breaking talk show in the history of American television.
- In July 2002, at the invitation of MSNBC, Phil returned to the broadcast, but this time his show was only seven months old. On February 28, 2003, shortly before the outbreak of hostilities in Iraq, Donahue was fired. The management of the channel said that the transfer is closed due to low rating. However, the Donahue program had the highest rating of all prime time programs on this channel. The presenter himself called the incident a political decision. The Donahue show on the air was replaced by the Iraq - Countdown program [6] . According to V. Pozner, the program was closed after he inadvertently spoke out against the war in Iraq. - In 2007, Donahue, along with independent filmmaker Ellen Spiro, produced the documentary “Body of War”, the true story of 24-year-old soldier Thomas Young, a disabled person in the Iraq war. In November 2007, the film was included in the list of 15 documentary projects nominated for an Oscar by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences [8] .
