Lyubov Viktor Cherkashina ( Belorussian Lyubo Viktarana Charkashyna , born December 23, 1987 in Brest , BSSR ) - Belarusian gymnast and trainer, bronze medalist of the 2012 Olympic Games in individual championship, multiple silver and bronze medalist of the world championships in rhythmic gymnastics, gold, silver and two bronze medals in European Championships, winner of several other rhythmic gymnastics competitions. Biography
Lyubov Cherkashina was born in 1987 in Brest. She began training in rhythmic gymnastics at the age of 9 [5] . In childhood, she was first engaged in acrobatics, then gymnastics, then switched to rhythmic gymnastics; In 2000, she began training at a sports boarding school in Minsk [6] . Her debut at international competitions took place in 2003. In the Baltic Cup, she took third place, losing only to Alina Kabaeva and Irina Chashchina . This was followed by two bronzes in the team championship at the World Championships in Budapest (2003) and Baku (2005) , as well as at the European Championship in Moscow (2005). At the world championships 2007 and 2009, she took 10th and 7th places, respectively.
The successful period for her performances began in 2011 , when Lyubov won a silver medal at the World Championships in Montpellier (team championship) and a bronze medal in exercises with the ball, two gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the European Championships in Minsk (in exercises with the ball and clubs, in the team championship and in hoop exercises, respectively). At the European Championships in Nizhny Novgorod took 4th place. In 2012, she twice became a bronze medalist in the final of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup - in individual all-around and in exercises with the ball.
London Summer Olympics
At the 2012 Olympics, Lyubov Cherkashina, according to the results of the qualification round, took fifth place with a total score of 114.500. This allowed her to reach the finals of performances, where she managed to take third place, ahead of Aliya Garaeva from Azerbaijan and losing to Evgenia Kanaeva and Daria Dmitrieva from Russia.
Retirement
In late November 2012, Lyubov Cherkashina, as well as silver medals at the Olympic Games in London, Alina Tumilovich, Anastasia Ivankova, Ksenia Sankovich and Marina Goncharova announced the completion of a career. At the same time, they noted that they were not going to completely part with the sport: they plan to take part in demonstrations.
