Biography

In 1981 he graduated from the philological faculty of Udmurt State University. Member of the IX All-Union meeting of young writers. He worked as a research fellow at UdNII, editor of the poetry and criticism department of the Molot magazine and a correspondent for the newspaper Sovetskaya Udmurtiya. In the last years of his life, he was the editor of the department of fiction and children's literature of the Udmurtia publishing house and in the editorial office of the Kenesh magazine. He died in 1995 after a long illness.

Creativity

Fedotov published his first works in 1974 in the newspaper Das Lu! He began to actively print during his studies at the university and military service. In 1988, Fedotov became the winner of the Flora Vasilyev Komsomol Udmurtia Prize, in 1990 received the Prize for the Press. The poetry of Mikhail Fedotov, as many critics and colleagues in the “workshop” noted, is the voice of pain. His last lifetime book, The Eight (1991), translates both as Nerve, Prayer, and Pain. The poet consciously turns in his poems to Beserman mysticism. Fedotov managed to raise Udmurt poetry to a new level of understanding of the world, where the ancient mythological layer occupies an important place.

In addition, Fedotov wrote several scientific articles on the origin of the ethnic group of Besermans living in the north of Udmurtia.

Quote

Vladimir Vysotsky, Oleg Dal, Nikolai Eremenko ... And when the news came of the sudden death of actor Vladislav Galkin, who, by the will of tabloid publications, became the "main rowdy" of the country, my legs didn’t hold me: I fell into a chair, and out of breath: “Ah! Misha ... ”The fate of the Moscow artist and my Beserman friend, a poet from God - Mikhail Fedotov turned out to be so similar ... A year before his death, Mikhail Fedotov invited me to visit his native village of Vortsa, Yarsky district. In the same place, a few kilometers in the direction of the Kirov border, there is also the village of Berdyshi, the birthplace of Flora Vasiliev, who at one time saw in the verses of the still schoolboy Misha Fedotov the sparkles of real poetic talent and blessed his first publications. “Our southern regions take readers by the number of their authors, and we, the Yara northerners Flor and I, take quality,” Mikhail Fedotov joked later, “and then Lesha Yeltsov is in a hurry to help. So we are few - but we are! ”

- “News of the Udmurt Republic.” No. 33 (3573) - 2010. - Nearest springs Mikhail Fedotov (1958-1995) [1] .

... Misha had a natural mind, tact, he was a well-mannered man. This came from the family, from the mother, in him were high and noble feelings and motivations. I felt this in one of our long conversations. How subtly he understood poetry, how maturely he judged it, how he knew the value of the work of each of the writers! And now everyone standing at the tomb was tormented by the question: why, really could not save? It was, unfortunately, not about the doctors who did everything they could, but about the people around him, his friends and colleagues. I can’t take the blame from myself. And I did nothing to lend a helping hand in his trouble. The attempt of one of his friends at the memorial service to explain his death by the poet’s loneliness, by the severity of his creative work, by the fact that we don’t cherish the poets, they don’t love them (they don’t cherish - yes, they don’t love - no) was not the whole truth. What is needed is the struggle of society, the collective, and the entire artistic intelligentsia for each and for themselves. Warming up with spiritual care, it is necessary to protect each other from harmful addictions and habits so that they do not prematurely take away from the life of people who are talented, pure in soul. But Misha Fedotov was just such a person, but weak, who did not find support in others, but in himself - the strength to fight them ... He was a poet by the grace of God ...
