Sarya ( Belorussian. Sar'ya ) - an agro - town (until 2008 - a village), the center of the Saryan village council in the Verkhnedvinsky district of the Vitebsk region . Located 20 km north of Verkhnedvinsk on the right bank of the Saryanki . A highway of regional significance Verkhnedvinsk - Osveya passes through an agro-town.

History
The first written references to Sarya date back to 1506 , when she belonged to the Sapieha family. In 1753, the settlement was acquired by Nikolai Lopatinsky.
In 1772, Rositsa became part of the Russian Empire , was in the Drissen district of Vitebsk province . In 1850 (according to other evidence - in 1852 ), Ignatius Lopatinsky began the construction of a stone temple in Sarya, which, according to some reports, was consecrated in 1857.
During the Great Patriotic War , an underground anti-fascist organization operated in Sarya, on the basis of which a partisan detachment named after Kotovsky was created.
Since 2008, Sarya has become the center of the agro-town of the same name [2] .

Name Origin
From the name of the Saryanki River (formerly Sarya), on the banks of which there is an agricultural town.
Enterprises and Organizations
On the territory of the agro-town is located KPSSHP "Drissensky", which employs 178 people. The farm specializes in dairy and crop production. In Sarya there are the House of Culture, a branch of the Osveisk Music School, a branch of Belarusbank OJSC.
There is regular bus service to Verkhnedvinsk and local destinations.
