Club

Pupil of the Pachuca club. In 2011, he acted on loan for the club of the second division of Tampico Madero. In the spring of 2011 he was included in the application of the main team by the coach Efrain Flores. On July 23, 2011 he made his debut for Pachuca in the match of the first round of Aperture 2011 against Santos Laguna [3] . On January 6, 2013, he scored the first goal for Pachuca (against Atlanta ) [4] . Hector quickly became the main player in the team . In April 2012, the English midfielder was interested in Liverpool , and after Herrera's successful performance at the tournament in Toulon , Manchester United and Udinese joined the Reds . On August 7, 2015, the Russian club Zenit showed interest in the midfielder.

On July 3, 2019, Atletico Madrid officially announced the transfer of Herrera from Porto as a free agent and entered into a contract with him, calculated until June 30, 2022 [5] .

Team

Hector Herrera in the Mexican national team participated in the 2012 Olympic football tournament . The midfielder spent 4 matches in the tournament and scored 1 goal (in the quarterfinals against the Senegal team) [6] . He took part in the final match of the tournament, when the Mexican team, defeating Brazil , for the first time in its history became the Olympic champion in football.

On October 17, 2012, the midfielder made his debut in Mexico's first national team . In the second half of the match against El Salvador , played as part of the qualifying tournament for the 2014 World Cup , Herrera was replaced by Andres Guardado [7] .
