Geographical position
Corbeil-Eson is located in the south of Paris , 28.3 km from its center and is connected with it by RER and local trains. Lies on the Eson River, which flows into the Seine at this point.
History
In ancient times, there was a Gallo-Roman settlement on the site of Corbei, as evidenced by archaeological finds.
In the abbey of Saint-Jean-sur-l`Isl buried the French Queen Ingeborg of Denmark (1174-1236), who was his abbess.
On May 11, 1258, the Corbeian Peace was signed between Louis IX and Jaime I , King of Aragon , and a century later, in 1326 , the Corbeian Peace between France and Scotland.
In 1418, Corbey was captured by the Duke of Burgundy. In 1562, the city was attacked by the Huguenots during the First Civil War in France .
Beginning in the Middle Ages, gunpowder was made in Corbey, and there were leather workshops and mills to provide Paris with flour.
In 1840, Corbey and Paris were connected by a railway, giving rise to the industrial development of the city. In 1951, the city merges with the neighboring city of Eson, receiving the joint name Corbeil-Eson. From 1966 to 1971, Corbey-Eson was temporarily the administrative center of the district.

Interesting Facts
The French word "corbillard" is a hearse , comes from the name of the city of Corbey. In the Middle Ages, food was brought to Paris by boat of the same name from Corbeille. During the Great Plague, the dead from Paris were piled up on the same boats and taken out of the infected city, thereby creating a stable association.
