Biography
Henry's parents divorced when he was two years old. From his father’s different marriages, he has three half-sisters - Marin Hopper, Rutanna Hopper and Gelen Greer Hopper. His mother Catherine, after divorcing Dennis, got married two more times - to French Stewart (in 1998) and to Grant Shaw (in 2012).
First appeared on the screen at the age of five - in the movie "Alone with the Killer", where he played with his mother. On the instructions of his father - Dennis Hopper , at fourteen and fifteen years old, Henry took acting classes at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute in Los Angeles [2] . According to the young man, this was a kind of means of "staying out of trouble" [3] .
At the age of 16, Hopper, who plays in a theatrical production, noticed the agent and invited him to appear in television projects, but he refused [4] . Later, he began to study painting and sculpture at the California Institute of the Arts , but at the age of 18 he dropped out of school and left for Berlin , where he lived with his fellow artists and made amateur films [5] .
Career
In 2008, Hopper was supposed to play a major role in Wes Craven ’s horror film “ Take My Soul, ” but the actor became ill with mononucleosis and was replaced by Max Tiriot [6] . Henry personally clarified the situation: “Wes said he wanted to delay the start of filming for me, but because of the potential strike of the actors, he did not succeed. And I saw a test of Tiriot - he is a very talented guy, what is needed for this role. " In 2011 at the Cannes Film Festival , the premiere of the film " Do Not Give Up " directed by Gus Van Sant , where Henry played a major role [7] .
Gus Van Saint praised the work of the actor: “I first saw him in a photograph in one of the galleries in Los Angeles - he studied sculpture and fine art in California and therefore periodically exhibited his work somewhere. Maybe this is due to the fact that he is the son of Dennis, and acting in his blood; maybe he was influenced by the impressions received in Europe, or maybe he is just different in himself ” [8] .
In 2011, Hopper, along with James Franco and director Harmony Corin, contributed to the creation of the short film Rebel, dedicated to James Dean and his role in Rebel Without a Cause [9] . At the shows "Rebel" Henry acted as a DJ [10] .
In February 2012, he took part in an advertising campaign for the California brand 7 For All Mankind and became his face together with Lily Donaldson and Amber Anderson, and James Franco shot the video for the advertising campaign [11] . The videos featured actors, artists, models and musicians embodying the Los Angeles lifestyle [12] .
In 2012, the actor played in the short film “ Kurt ” and in the film “ Color of Time ” - a non-standard biopic about the American poet and writer C. K. Williams, in which he and James Franco played the writer in different periods of his life [13] .
