Beskilnitsy leaf spread ( Puccinellia distans )

Perennial , rarely biennial , grassy turf plants (5) 10-80 (100) cm tall. Creeping underground shoots are missing. Stems erect [4] .

Leaves linear, flat or coagulated along, bare or rough, 0.5-5 mm wide. The vaginas are bare, smooth, closed to ¼ (less often to от) lengths from the base; tongues are membranous, bare, smooth or rough, 0.3–5 mm long [4] .

Inflorescence - sprawling or compressed panicle , sprigs smooth or rough. Spikelet with a bare, rough or short-haired axis, (2) 3–9 (12) mm long, from (2) 3–8 (9) flowers imbued with two rows of flowers [5] .

Spikelet scales are unequal, shorter than the lower flowering, from lanceolate or shirokoyaytsevidnyh, leathery-membranous, lower - from 1-3, upper - from 3-5 veins, without keel or keeled. The bottom floral scales are oblong, lanceolate or ovate, leathery-membranous or fine-skinned, naked or hairy, smooth or almost smooth, (1.3) 1.5-3.5 (5) mm long, with (3) 5 inconspicuous veins, without keel or slightly keeled, obtuse or acutate, tapered and fine-edged along the edge; callus short or naked. The upper floral scales are almost equal to the lower ones, with 2 ciliate or bare keels, at the top is notched-bidentate, hairy at the base or bare. Lodikuly free, bilobed, among the two. Stamens 3, duster 0.3-2.5 mm long. Pestle with seated, feathery stigmas [5] [4] .

The fruit is an elongated grain , without a groove, 0.8-2.5 mm long, falls together with flowering scales; scar is oblong or rounded, 4–6 times shorter than the fruit [4] .

Spread

Species of the genus are found in all extratropical regions of both hemispheres, as well as in the highlands of the tropics [4] .

Economic value and application

Good, mainly pasture , fodder plants , the average yield of hay is 800-1000 kg per hectare (in good years up to 3000 kg). In a mature state (after flowering) coarse and not eaten by livestock [5] .
