Kurgan Regional Writing Organization

The NGO “Kurgan Regional Writing Organization” unites members of the Union of Writers of Russia residing in the territory of the Kurgan Region .

In June 1965, the Secretariat of the Board of the Writers' Union of the RSFSR decided to establish a writing organization in the Kurgan Region. According to the charter, an organization can be created if at least five members of the Writers Union live in the city. By 1965, four members of the Writers' Union were in the Trans-Urals: Glebov Nikolai Aleksandrovich, Elovskikh Vasily Ivanovich, Korobeinikov Ivan Terentievich, Kulikov Leonid Ivanovich. For the education department of writers in the area lacked one person. And then the leadership of the region made the decision: to invite Yakov Terent'evich Vokhmentsev, a member of the Chelyabinsk writers 'organization of the USSR Writers' Union, to Kurgan.

On July 10, 1965, the editorial office of the newspaper “Soviet Zauralye” (Kuybyshev St., 87), with the active participation of the editor of the newspaper Glebov Sergey Stepanovich and the head of the press department Yelagin Vasiliy Sergeevich, the first constituent assembly was formed and the Kurgan branch of the Writers' Union of the RSFSR was formed. Jacob Terentevich Vokhmentsev, a native of the Kurgan region, was elected first responsible secretary and worked in this position until October 1, 1974 .

The Kurgan Regional Writing Organization has 2 honored cultural workers of Russia (V.F. Potanin, I.P. Yagan). 19 writers were awarded with the regional award in the sphere of literature and art, the Kurgan city Prize “Recognition” - 7 people.

In 2018, the Tobol literary-publicistic almanac No. 32 was published (published since 1993 with the support of the Government of the Kurgan Region).

For many years, the Kurgan Writing Organization was located at the address: Kurgan , ul. Komsomolskaya, 20. Currently, the office of the NGO Kurgan Regional Writing Organization is located in the Regional Cultural and Exhibition Center (Kurgan city, Gogol str., 30)
