History
The program to create a 19-seat transport aircraft CBA 123 in civilian and military transport versions began with the signing of an agreement between Argentina and Brazil on January 17, 1986 . On May 21, 1987, an aircraft project was presented. It was planned to build five prototype aircraft. Deliveries of "Vector" were planned to begin in 1991 . The first prototype flew on July 18, 1990 . The presentation of the prototype of the aircraft took place on July 30, 1990, which was attended by Carlos Menem and Fernando Color di Melu .
However, delays associated with financial problems led to the fact that only two prototypes were built (the third was never assembled) for testing in 1992 and certification, which was planned for mid- 1993 . The difficult financial situation of FMA and Embraer, the high cost of the "Vector" in comparison with the American and European counterparts led to the closure of the program.
In total, three prototypes were built, but only two prototypes were fully completed. The developments obtained during the design and construction of the “Vector” were used to create the aircraft of the Embraer 145 series.
