Michael Joseph McGrate was born March 24, 1882 in Kilkenny , Ireland . On July 12, 1908 he was ordained a priest .

On August 10, 1935, Pope Pius XI appointed Michael Joseph McGrath Bishop of Menevia. On September 24, 1935, Michael Joseph McGrate was ordained bishop.

On June 20, 1940, Francis Mostin was appointed ordinar of the Cardiff Archdiocese.

He died on February 28, 1961 .
