Building

The S.T.Aksakov House-Museum is located in Ufa on the banks of the Belaya River .

The museum building is an example of wooden architecture of the late XVIII century - a monument of history and architecture. The house was erected from the Ural larch, the enfilade construction of rooms is now preserved. Part of the house was adapted for the office, and in the second half there were living rooms.

The owner of the house was Sergei Timofeevich Aksakov’s grandfather - Nikolai Stepanovich Zubov. Nikolai Stepanovich worked as a college counselor and held the leadership position of the deputy governor, in whose hands the administrative and judicial power was concentrated. His daughter, Maria Nikolaevna Zubova, lived and raised in this house, and in 1788 she married the prosecutor of the Zemstvo court, Timofei Stepanovich Aksakov, and they settled separately.

In the years 1795-1797. the family of Sergei Timofeevich Aksakov lived in the house. According to his book, "The Childhood Years of Bagrov the Grandson, " the house was known as the "family nest."

Prior to the opening of the museum, the building housed the library of the union of educators.
