Prince Alexander Dmitriyevich Golitsyn ( 1874 - 1957 ) - Russian public figure and politician, one of the founders of the Union on October 17 , member of the III State Duma from Kharkiv province , member of the State Council on elections. Grandson of Prince F. G. Golitsyn and Count A. K. Sievers .

Biography

The son of the Kharkov landowner Prince Dmitry Fedorovich Golitsyn (1849–1893) and Countess Maria Alexandrovna Sievers (1851–1920). Inherited from his father ancestral estate Dolzhik and other lands in the Kharkov province, only 2400 acres .

In 1896 he graduated from the law faculty of Kharkov University with a diploma of the 1st degree. Following the example of his parents, he settled in the village of Dolzhik, Kharkiv district, and was engaged in agriculture. In 1901 he was elected chairman of the Kharkiv district Zemstvo district council and district leader of the nobility .

During the Russian-Japanese war , representing the nobility organization, he participated in the work of the Red Cross in the Far East, was engaged in the construction of hospitals and the evacuation of the wounded from Harbin and Mukden .

In 1905 he was elected chairman of the Kharkiv provincial district council. In 1905, he was granted the court title "in the position of master of ceremonies", then the title of master of ceremonies . In 1916 he was granted in the actual state councilors "for the difference." He took an active part in Zemsky congresses, at the end of 1905 became one of the founders of the party " Union on October 17 ".

Consisted as an elector to the State Duma of the I and II convocations. In 1907 he was elected a member of the III State Duma from the congress of landowners of the Kharkov province. He was a member of the Octobrists. Consisted of the chairman of the commission on relocation affairs, a friend of the chairman of the commission on local self-government, as well as a member of the budget commission.

September 24, 1915 elected a member of the State Council from the Kharkiv provincial zemstvo. He was a member of the center group, from March 27, 1916 he was a friend of the chairman of this group. Consisted member of the Commission: for Agriculture and Finance. During the Civil War, he headed the Union of Industry, Commerce, Finance and Agriculture ( Protofis ), who supported the Hetman Skoropadsky .

In emigration in Yugoslavia, then in France. In 1925 he became one of the organizers of the Union of Russian Nobles, from 1926 - member of the Council of the Union. He was chairman of the Russian Society of Distilled Breeders and a member of the board of the Russian-English Bank. Collaborated in the Russian National Society of the League of Nations, the Russian Central Association, the Club of Russian National Youth. He was a member of the Council of the Russian Trade, Industry and Finance Union, an honorary member of the Kharkiv community, a board member of the Russian National Association, a board member of the Society for the Preservation of Russian Cultural Property. In 1949 he was elected chairman of the Union of Russian Nobles in Europe.

In the 1950s, the prince’s memoirs were published in the magazine “Union of Nobles”. In Russia, these memories were first published in 2008. He died in 1957 in Paris. Buried in the cemetery of Sainte-Genevieve de Bois .

From 1896 he was married to Yekaterina Nikolaevna Khvoschinsky (1876–1931), daughter of Captain Nikolai Vasilievich Khvoschinsky (1845–1912) from marriage with Princess Elena Yuryevna Golitsyna (1850–07); the author of the memoirs, granddaughter of Prince Yu. N. Golitsyn . During the First World War, Princess Golitsyna was a sister of mercy on the Red Cross train and in the hospital. She took part in the anti-Bolshevik underground. In 1920 she emigrated to France. She was a member of the Ladies' Committee of the Union of Russian Nobles, participated in the organization of noble balls and charity events. She died in November 1931 in Boulogne-sur-Seine and was buried in the cemetery of Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois. Their sons:

  • Dmitri (1896-1985), graduate of the Page Corps (1917), officer of the Hussar Life Guards Regiment . He was an assistant father in the government of P. P. Skoropadsky . In exile in France, he worked in a travel agency T. Cook and was engaged in the wine business. During World War II, he served in the French Cavalry Regiment, Commander of the Legion of Honor.
  • Nikolay (1899–1963), a graduate of the Page Corps (1917), officer of the Life Guard 4th Rifle Regiment , attaché of the Russian Embassy in London. Member of the White movement. In emigration to England.
  • Alexander (1910-1988), educated at the monastic school in Ponlevua. He adopted Catholicism. He worked in the trading company department stores in Paris. Opened three small shops in Paris.
