Story
The animated series tells the story of Bubonik Irvitzer and his aunt Tyranny Vampadur, two sorcerers who are trying to cast a spell on the peaceful city of Megalopolis. Each of them owns his own half of the magic scroll that they received after signing the contract of obligation to conjure curses. The evil sorcerer Maledictus de Magog supervises the work of sorcerers. In order to create a spell, Bubonik and Tyranny have to use their magic powers together: combine their parts of the magic scroll. However, if this spell is interrupted within seven hours, it will lose its power.
Sorcerers do not suspect that their pets - the cat Myaurizio di Myauro and the raven Jacob Scribble - are special agents of the Supreme Council of Animals, sent to protect the inhabitants of Megalopolis from the spells of Tyranny and Bubonik. It is thanks to Mäurizio and Jacob, who interrupt each spell (and they must be kept within seven hours so that the spell does not become eternal), the sorcerers do not succeed. After each failure, they receive punishment from Maledictus, after which they are forced to create new spells, but also to no avail.
Characters
The main characters (present in all series)
- Bubonik Irvittser ( born Beelzebub Irrwitzer ) is a magician, the tyrant of Tyrania Vampadur, the owner of the cat Myaurizio, whom he loves (although in one of the series he started a dog named Bubon). Tall, thin. He always walks in a blue coat, a bent cap of the same color (under which he hides a bald spot), a white shirt and dark pants, wears glasses with round lenses, and he rarely changes his appearance. One of the recurring episodes is that Bubonik is trying to create a tool for growing hair, but almost unsuccessfully - either it does not work, or something prevents it from being used. He is distinguished by his inability to handle equipment (nevertheless, in many series you can see how he drives his car - a hearse of black color). In Russian translations of the book, his name is translated as Belzebub Shutkozlober , Weselvul Bredovred and as Weselvul Confuses .
- Tyranny Vampadur ( English Tyrannja Vamperl ) - the sorceress, aunt Bubonika, the mistress of the raven Jacob. She also adores her pet and sincerely cares about it. But the rest is the exact opposite of Bubonik: he has a passion for changing the appearance (not only clothes, but also hair color and hairstyle), as well as applying high technology (even her powder box is automatic). Small stature, very thick; real hair color is light. Looks much younger than his nephew. Considers himself the "most perfect creature." Drives a bright pink car. In the Russian translation of the book, the name is translated as Tyranny Bloodsucker .
- Miaurizio di Mauro ( German Maurizio di Mauro ) - cat Bubonika. Elected by the supreme council of animals to spy on sorcerers and dispel their charms. Golden, wears a blue bow tie. A distinctive feature is that there is often a lot of inclination (although sometimes it is complex, considering itself fat), but this does not prevent him from fulfilling his duties. According to its own statement, it is a descendant of the knights and belongs to their oldest family (which is ultimately confirmed in the series "Into the Ages"). Afraid of heights. In the Russian translation of the book, his names are Moritz and Meauro di Murro .
- Jakob Kribel ( English Jakob Krakel ) - the raven of Tyranny. Like the cat Myaurizio, he was elected the supreme council of animals for spying on sorcerers and dispelling their spells. Pretty grouchy, but good-natured; often serves as an air vehicle for Miaurizio. Despite suffering from rheumatism, she is surprisingly good at skiing and ice skating. It has a dark blue plumage, wears a tailcoat and an orange scarf. In the Russian translation of the book, his name is translated as Jacob Carr .
- Maledictus De Magog ( born Maledictus T. Maggot ) - an evil sorcerer, a messenger from hell and inspector of magic; in the animated series, it looks like an anthropomorphic beetle or cockroach with the features of a frog; in the original source, it looks completely human, except for the absence of eyelids. He wears a business suit, glasses and a bowler hat, and also constantly has a briefcase with him, with the help of which he instantly moves from one place to another. He constantly reminds sorcerers of their duty to curse Megalopolis (always appearing from the most unexpected places and at the most inopportune moment) by virtue of the magic contract signed by Bubonic and Tyranny (for their execution they received their half of the magic scroll). In most cases, sorcerers act on his orders, with very rare exceptions. However, Magog himself is also vulnerable to the effects of witchcraft: in the series “Inspector Magog” Bubonik and Tyranny deliberately enchant him, and in the episode “The Force of Attraction” the spell accidentally extends to him. Almost every time after failure it turns the sorcerers into something related to the essence of their spell or places them in an unpleasant situation (sorcerers are not punished only in the series “Cherished Desires”, “Devilish Deal” and “The Struggle of the Sexes”). In Russian translations of the book, Maledictus bears the name Mogilus Troupe and Proklyaton Lichina .
- Aunt Noah is an old turtle that lives in a zoo. Head of the Supreme Council of Animals. Using encrypted instructions in the form of riddles, Miaurizio and Jacob are told how to save the city from the spells of sorcerers. Nevertheless, she is vulnerable to witchcraft - twice (in cases of psychological spells) they have to look for a way out practically without her help; in some series, it also undergoes spells of a physical nature, but this does not force her to refuse help. The only character who was entirely coined for the animated series.
Other heroes (participate in almost all series)
- The Cozy family is a family of ordinary people who live next door to sorcerers. It consists of a father, mother (their names are never called) and their children: teenage girls Kelly and boy Kip. Together with the rest of the inhabitants of Megalopolis, they are often subjected to witchcraft of Tyranny and Bubonik. They know the cat Myaurizio well, because Kip loves to play with him.
- Barbara Blabber is a well-known journalist in Megalopolis. A distinctive feature is excessive self-care and concern for one's own appearance.
- Mayor Bluff - Mayor of Megalopolis. Selfish and somewhat cowardly, does not like Barbara Blabber. In one of the series, he changed with Bubonic bodies.
- Oakfudt is a dog serving in the fire department of Megalopolis. Oakfoodt sometimes helps Jacob and Miaurizio get out of difficult situations.
- Miss Vizar is the secretary of Mayor Bluff.
- Raven is a crow, beloved of Jacob.
- Supreme Animal Council - Aunt Noi's animal helpers. The composition of the Council includes: Goat and Pig (from 1 series), as well as Lioness and Monkey (from 2 series). The first series also included Sheep, Pelican and Colonel Rat.
- Mrs. Magog is the wife of Magog (season 2, episode 1 and 26). It differs from it by beige skin and antennae in the form of hearts. He loves her husband very much, cooks pasta with stew deliciously.
- Toothy the Fly - eater - Bubonika 's favorite indoor plant ("the best creation of Bubonik"), appears in some series. Carnivorous flower with great appetite, possessing some intelligence, although almost unable to speak (only wheezing; sometimes pronounces short words, such as "Aha!"). Completely devoid of a sense of humor. In the series "Garden City" accidentally merged with Tyranny, and in the episode "Crazy Plants" he himself became part of the spell (the city was filled with copies of it).

Facts
- The animated series has two introductory screensavers: one was made for the German version, and the other for the French version, both of which are not sliced frames from the series, but a specially created video sequence. In Russia, the animated series was shown with a screensaver from the English version, in which it was made based on the French version, but the order of the scenes was slightly changed. The title song, not translated, was taken similarly from the English version.
- The original German title for the book “Satanarchäolügenialkohöllisch” is the portmanto of the words “Satan” ( Satan ), “Anarchie” ( anarchy ), “Archäologie” ( archeology ), “Lüge” (false), “genial” (genius), “Alkohol” ( alcohol) and "höllisch" (hellish). This combination led to the fact that in all foreign translations in the title of the book the original word order was never used. In Russia, the book was translated three times:
- “ Catastrophicarchistorismandalcoholic magic drink ” translated by Galina Snezhinskaya ;
- " Vunchunsh, or Genialkogad magic drink " translated by Elena Khaetskaya ;
- " Punch of desires " in the translation of Lilianna Lungina and Alexandra Isaeva.
In the Russian dubbing of the animated series, the title of the book from the intro splash screen is translated as “Devil’s congenial alcohol cocktail”.
- 26 “When Dreams Come True” series is, in fact, a concise retelling of the book, but has a completely different ending. In the original, the sorcerers were sent to Hell , and their pets were younger and ennobled. In the cartoon, Magog combines the houses of sorcerers as punishment.
