Umyar Abdullovich Mavlikhanov ( Tat. Үmәr Mәүlihanov ; September 24, 1937 , Moscow - July 14, 1999 , Moscow) - Soviet saber fencer , two-time Olympic champion. Honored Master of Sports of the USSR (1964), Honored Trainer of the RSFSR (1975).

Biography

He entered the USSR national team in 1958-1969. He participated in the Olympic Games of 1960, 1964 and 1968. He won the gold medals of the 1964 and 1968 Olympic Games in the team championship and the bronze medal of the 1964 Olympics in the individual championship. World champion 1965, 1967 and 1969, silver medalist of the world championship 1958, 1961, 1963 and 1966, bronze medalist of the World Cup 1959 and 1962 in the team championship. He was a member of the CSKA team, who won the European Cup in 1967, 1968 and 1970. Champion of the USSR 1963, 1967, 1968 in the individual and team championships.

Member of the CPSU since 1971. In 1975 he graduated from the Moscow Technological Institute of Light Industry .

He was awarded the medals “ For Labor Valor ” and “ For Labor Distinction ”.

He was buried at Butovo cemetery in Moscow.
