Arawa is a city in Papua New Guinea , the administrative center of the autonomous region of Bougainville , which is planned to be moved here from the city of Buka, and the Central Bougainville area.

General Information
The city is located in the central part of the eastern coast of Bougainville Island, at an altitude of 5 m above sea level [1] . It is the largest settlement on the island. After 1998, when the civil war for independence of the island was over, the capital of the Northern Solomon Islands of Buka was destroyed. Then it was decided to transfer the administrative center of the region to Arava, however, the transfer has not yet been finalized.
