Life and work

F. T. Fisher was born in the family of a military superintendent. After his father died of typhoid, the Fischer family moved to Stuttgart. Here F.T. Fisher graduated from the gymnasium in 1825. After that, he enters the University of Tübingen , where he studies theology, philosophy and philology. In the same 1825 F. T. Fischer entered into the student fraternity ( bursenschaft ) Old Tübingen (Alten Tübinger) . During his studies in Tübingen, he establishes friendly ties with a number of prominent figures of German culture - L. Uland , Eduard Merik , Friedrich Hölderlin , Justinus Kerner . In 1830, F. T. Fisher passed the first state exam in theology and was awarded a silver medal. In 1832 he graduated from the university, becoming a doctor of theology. Between 1831 and 1834, the young scientist holds a number of posts at evangelical organizations - the Vicariate in Khorrheim, works as an assistant professor of theology at a seminar in Maulbronn, then makes a trip to the educational institutions of Göttingen, Prague, Vienna, Berlin and Dresden, finally staying in Munich . In 1834, he was an assistant professor at Tübingen. Having received this place, F. T. Fischer refuses the priest's place in Khorrheim. In November 1835, he became a privat-docent in aesthetics and German literature at the University of Tübingen. In 1837 his work On the Sublime and Funny ... (Über das Erhabene und das Komische) was published . In the same 1837, he became a freelance professor at the university and, together with the philosopher David Friedrich Strauss , participated in the publications of the Left Hegelians, directed against the “old Hegelians” of Berlin and their head Arnold Ruge the almanacs Hallischen Jahrbücher für deutsche Wissenschaft und Kunst . In the process of this work, as well as after the conflict related to the work of F. T. Fischer, Old and New Faith (Der alte und der neue Glaube) , a gap occurs between Strauss and Fischer.

In 1839-1840, the scientist traveled to Greece and Italy, giving lectures on literary topics, in particular about the work of Goethe and Shakespeare . In 1844, he became a full professor and received the Department of Aesthetics and German Literature in Tübingen . At the same time, his recognition of the practice of pantheism led to a two-year removal from his post. In 1847, the scientist again began to lecture. During this period of his activity, he also begins to engage in politics. In 1848, he was elected to the Frankfurt National Assembly , where he represents leftist democrats and sharply criticizes O. Bismarck's policies.

In 1849, F. T. Fischer returned to Tübingen, in 1855 he became an assistant professor in esthetics and German literature at the Zurich Polytechnic. In 1857 he completed his major work Aesthetics or the Science of the Beautiful (Ästhetik oder Wissenschaft des Schönen) (in 6 volumes). At this time, he had friendly relations with Gottfried Keller , Jacob Burkhardt , Gottfried Zemper , Richard Wagner . Shortly after the publication of Aesthetics ... F. T. Fischer publishes the psychological novel A Just Einer , which has become something of a bestseller of its time. In 1858 and 1860 he made study tours in Italy, in 1862 - to the north of Germany, to the island of Norderney. In the same year, he writes satire on the second part of Goethe's Faust - Faust. The tragedy of the third part (Faust. Der Tragödie dritter Teil) . Fisher also creates his satirical play on the themes of their life as a priest Nicht Ia in a Swabian dialect; it was printed only in 1884 and withstood a series of reprints. The author signs his literary works with pseudonyms Philipp U. Schartenmayer and Philipp Deutobold Symbolizetti Allegoriowitsch Mystifizinsky .

In 1864, F. T. Fischer became a member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . In 1866, he was reappointed professor at the University of Tübingen. In 1867, 1870 and 1881, the scientist makes trips to northern Italy. In 1870 he unsuccessfully ran for the Württemberg Landtag. In the same year, the King of Württemberg awarded the scientist the Order of the Württemberg Crown with a knight's cross of class I and made him into the nobility. In 1887, on his 80th birthday, F. T. Fischer was also awarded the Comtre cross of the Order of Friedrich .

The scientist died during a trip to Venice from a serious infectious disease.

In honor of the hero of the novel Friedrich Fischer Another (Auch Einer) named asteroid (500) Selinur , discovered in 1903. In honor of another hero of the same novel, the asteroid (501) Urkhiksidur , discovered in the same year, is named.

In honor of the heroine of the same novel, the asteroid (502) Sigun , discovered in the same year, is named. All 3 asteroids were discovered by the German astronomer Max Wolf at the Heidelberg-Königstuhl Observatory .
