Trimiks ( English Trimix , from triple - triple and mix - mix); Russian name - KAGS (Oxygen-nitrogen-helium mixture) - designation of breathing gas mixtures for scuba diving, consisting of helium , nitrogen and oxygen . A special case of trimix - heliair ( Eng. Heliair , from helium - helium and air - air ) - is simple to manufacture, since helium is mixed with ordinary air, the ratio of oxygen and nitrogen in such a mixture is fixed. Trimix is used in technical diving at various stages of diving. In the descent stage, a mixture called run gas is used . While staying at the bottom, bottom mixtures with a minimum oxygen content are used .
The purpose of trimix is to reduce the narcotic effect of nitrogen and oxygen , thereby expanding the limit of the depth of immersion.
The composition of the trimix mix is written as A / B or AB, where A represents the percentage of oxygen and B represents the helium content, for example, Trimix 10/50 (Trimix 10 50) contains 10% oxygen and 50% helium .
Classification
Trimixes are:
- normoxic - the oxygen content in the mixture is 21%; for diving to a depth of 66 meters ( partial pressure of oxygen 1.6 atm).
- hypoxic - the oxygen content in the mixture is less than 21%; for deep sea dives.
- hyperoxic - the oxygen content in the mixture is more than 21%; for use as intermediate (track) mixtures
