Career
Born in 1953 in Leningrad. In adolescence, she started jogging. The first coach - Allan Mikhailovich Notman [1] , then began to work with Boris Filippovich Schennikov [2] , after he made her an appropriate proposal, which was supported by Notman, because he believed that under the guidance of Shchennikov she could become an Olympic champion [2] .
In 1976 she fulfilled the standard for the title of “Master of Sports of the USSR”. In 1978, she won the draws of the USSR Winter and Summer Cup, however she finished third at the USSR Championship of the same year. Nevertheless, she was soon enrolled in the national team, whose athletes were preparing for the next Olympic Games. In 1979, she became the USSR champion in the 100 meter race with indoor barriers.
At the Olympic Games in Moscow, Vera became the winner at a distance of 100 meters with barriers, and her result is 12.56 seconds. became a new Olympic record [3] . Also, along with Lyudmila Maslakova , Vera Anisimova and Natalya Bochina, she became the silver medalist of the Games in the relay 4 × 100 meters, losing to the GDR team [4] .
She was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor [3] .
