Biological description
Fruit bodies are annual, with a weakly expressed leg or horseshoe-shaped, funnel-shaped or flat hat. The surface of the cap is soft, light. The pulp is white, sometimes creamy, in the upper part is soft, easily pressed, in the lower part - hard. Spore-bearing surface ( hymenophore ) is white, tubular, pores are labyrinth-like or angular.
The hyphal system is monomitic, less often dimitic, hyphae with buckles. Spores are unpainted, non-amyloid , almost spherical or widely elliptical, with a smooth wall. Cystides are not present in all species.
Representatives of the genus, like other types of Meruliaceae, cause white rot of various tree species.
