Start of the path
The beginning of the theatrical activity of Vladimir, in Russia, was marked by the search for new forms of theatrical clownery. The masters of the silent cinema had a great influence on his work; Charlie Chaplin , Max Linder , Buster Keaton . But the most important impression of the clownery was for him Leonid Yengibarov , whom Vladimir had the good fortune to meet in Moscow.
After graduating from college and working at the Moscow Philharmonic, Vladimir returns to Leningrad. On the advice of his friend, Lev Stukalov, actor and director (now honored artist, chief director of Our Theater), Vladimir is shown in the Krasnoyarsk Theater for Young People, whose leaders were then Kama Ginkas and Henriette Yanovskaya . There he enters the repertoire - playing in the Moliere's "Skapin Plutons", Horatio in "Hamlet" and in other plays of the theater. After working in Krasnoyarsk, - Leningrad, this time for a longer time.
Vladimir Olshansky, "Swan" Variety Theater, Leningrad, 1977 | Vladimir and Elena Olshansky, Leningrad 1970s |
During this period, Vladimir, enters the Variety Art Workshop at Lenconcert, which is headed by Isaak Romanovich Shtokbandt. Under his leadership, he created his concert repertoire, including the pantomime "The Swan". At the same time, cooperation began with the caricaturist Viktor Bogorad , with the director and actor of the puppet theater E. Demeni, Yuri Herzman, with whom Vladimir has a long-term friendship. Doll "Swan" creates artist Natalia Lazareva. The now famous theater artist, Simon Shepherd, invents a clown costume, mime. This was Vladimir’s first “character” - “Mime” - from Andersen’s fairy tales. Made a suit Sonya Sharafutdinova. Subsequently, the "character" of Vladimir is modified, and becomes more "clown." Artist Emil Kapelyush draws a poster for the play. Now with a ready repertoire, Vladimir is accepted into the department of original genres of Lenconcert. A year later, Vladimir goes to the All-Russia Competition of Variety Artists in Moscow, and with the number "Swan" becomes the winner of this competition and tries to fulfill his dream of creating a clown theater. He met with Vyacheslav Polunin . The result of their cooperation is the play in the genre of theatrical clowning “Love and Clowns”. It is based on the traditional comedie del arte masks - Pierrot, Harlequin, Columbine, Captain. Vyacheslav Polunin, Alexander Skvortsov, Vladimir, Galina Andreeva and later Vladimir’s wife, Elena Olshanskaya, were engaged in the performance. Plots were created improvisationally. To direct the performance, Vladimir invited Yuri Gertsman, with whom he was preparing his pop repertoire. Also, an enormous theatrical teacher and director Kirill Chernozemov had a great influence, despite the count of rehearsals. Produced a performance by I. R. Stockbandt, in the workshops of Lenconcert. The scenery was invented by Simon the Shepherd. The play "Love and Clowns" invites Viktor Kharitonov to his theater "Experiment". There he gets the name "Mummers", a name that has become known to the whole world. Subsequently, Vladimir begins an independent path to the world of clowning, and creates his own solo performance: “Hour fun. Pessimisms ”with the premieres at the Estrada Theater and at the Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow, where they become students of this festival.

Italy and Soccorso Clown (Soccorso Clown)
In 1996, at the suggestion of his brother, Yuri, an actor and director who worked in Italy, Vladimir decided to acquaint Italy with a new profession of a hospital clown. Such a program in this country has not yet been. This idea is met with enthusiasm, Florentine Children's Hospital Anna Meyer, and together with Katerina Turi-Bicocchi, (great-great-great-granddaughter of A.S. Pushkin), Italian actress, the Olshansky brothers create a non-commercial organization "Clown Aid" (Clown Aid) Not Spending time looking for sponsors The Association of Parents Against Children's Tumors, Anna Meyer’s Hospital - “Noi Per Voi“, is funded by the first pilot project in Italy, implemented at the oncology department of Children's Hospital Anna Meier, in 1996-1997. Using her many years of experience in Clown Care Unit, in the circus and theater, Vladimir, with the help of his brother, creates the first training program “Clown in Corsia.” In 1999, this project is being implemented for the first time by the Olshansky brothers in Florence, with the help of the Mayer Children's Hospital, the National State Italian Theater Organization (ETI), Tuscany region financed by the European Social Fund After the completion of the project, in 2000, Clown Aid received its new Social Cooperative status and the name of Soccorso Clown (Soccorso Clown or Neotlozhka Clown, as they dubbed it in Russian). [6] [7] Under the artistic direction of Vladimir, Soccorso Klaun introduced many Italian hospitals to their services. [8] [9] [10]

Vladimir's next work, the new play “The Clown's Path” [17], which was released in 2010, with a premiere in Madrid, Spain, sums up some of his theatrical clown activities, pursuing an uninterrupted line of quest from a slepstick to a metaphysical comedy.
