County Organization
In September 1939, on the eve of the surrender of the city, the creation of the Polish underground had already begun. At that time, there were several organizations that supported the struggle for independence. Subsequently, SVB-1 and SVB-2 based on SPP were formed from them. However, the NKVD made a series of arrests and effectively defeated the development of clandestine structures of the SVB and other organizations with similar goals.
At the end of December 1942, the Gestapo defeated the command of the Lviv district. In mid-March 1943, Colonel Ludwik Chizhevsky was sent from Lodz , who was appointed commandant.
At the end of 1943, about 15,300 people were in the headquarters and combat units of the district. During the “Storm” campaign, AK units were to create units that belonged to the 5th Lviv Infantry Division, stationed before the war in the city.
