Starting off the shore of Volkhov , from Mikhailova Street runs eastward to Pankratova Street and the Tarasovets stream . Length 535 m.
The embassy has been known since the 17th century. It is assumed that there were courtyards of ambassadors. In the XIX — early XX centuries. the famous astronomer Boris Numerov lived on the street.
The street is built up with private residential buildings. The building of the former public school where the artist Vasily Tropinin studied was located on it.
Archeology
On Embassy Street, archaeological surveys were carried out three times.
- 1999 year.
- 2006 year. In the course of the research, a city estate was opened, the owners of which owned a unique complex of Christian antiquities dating from 1160–1180. [1] .
- 2008 year. Research was protective. Held at 17 Posolskaya Street on a building plot. The excavation area was 240 m². The thickness of the cultural layer in this area ranges from 1.5 to 2 m.
