Biography

Born on March 13, 1900 in Moscow in the family of Tikhon Konstantinovich Chernovolenko, an employee of an insurance company, and Natalya Vladimirovna Chernovolenko, a housewife. Older brothers - Adrian and Honored Artist of the RSFSR Georgy (Yuri) Tikhonovich Chernovolenko .

In 1918 he graduated from the 1st Moscow Real School , and before that, starting in 1916, he worked as an extras in the opera house of S. I. Zimin , where he often saw performances by Fyodor Chaliapin and Leonid Sobinov . [3]

Service in the Red Army

In 1919, Viktor Chernovolenko tried to enter the Commercial Institute , but he was called up to the Red Army .

“In particular, they asked me who I want to be in the ranks of the Red Army. I replied: I want to get to the cavalry courses. But I didn’t get to the cavalry courses - I was sent to machine gun courses of the command staff in the city of Volsk, which I graduated in 1919. And in 1920 I was sent to a separate reserve ski battalion in Siberia, where I was appointed assistant chief of the machine gun team of the reserve ski battalion. My status sounded very funny in the abbreviated form: "Remember a little from the jump". " [3]

A battalion was formed in Omsk , from where Viktor was sent to Tomsk to protect the grain carts . There, after a raid by robbers, he received lung damage, which ultimately led to tuberculosis . Then he was placed in the Tomsk military hospital , and then released from military service.

The Beginning of Creativity and Amaravel

Returning to Moscow, Viktor Chernovolenko arranged to work at the Kauchuk plant as a supply agent. And in his free time he visits the Tretyakov Gallery where M. Nesterov and M. Vrubel stood idle for a long time. And in 1926, while visiting the museum, he met a young artist Boris Smirnov-Rusetskiy , who was a member of the small creative association “Quadriga”, which included three more artists - P. P. Fateev (director), V. N. Pshesetskaya , A. P. Sardan . By that time, this association had existed for three years and all its members warmly welcomed Viktor Chernovolenko, who had long cherished the dream of someday becoming an artist. New friends were ready to help him, share their experience and give advice. Soon another young but experienced artist S. I. Shigolev joined their group. The creative philosophy of the group was the ideas of representatives of Russian cosmism - N. F. Fedorov , V. I. Vernadsky and A. L. Chizhevsky . [four]

In 1926, artists met with N.K. Roerich in Moscow, who, having got acquainted with their works, offers to take part in the upcoming 1927 World Exhibition of Contemporary Art in New York . The artists accepted the invitation and under the conditions of participation they had to present the concept of art, the emblem and the name of the group. So the name of the group of six artists, Amaravella, is born. [4] In the group of Viktor Chernovolenko, works are born: In the depths of the Universe (1927), the Ancient symbol of wisdom ( 1928 ), Man in the open spaces ( 1929 ), Awake, sleeping! Amaravela existed until 1930, when for material reasons part of the group was forced to seek additional income and went into other areas of activity.

Far East and Sikhali Combine

In 1932, Viktor Chernovolenko arrived in the Far East in the village of Tetyukh (now Dalnegorsk ) of the Primorsky Territory . There he got a job at the Sikhote-Alin Polymetallic Combine Glavtsvetmetzoloto (abbreviated Sikhali). Here he meets his future wife Maria Filippovna Drozdova, who worked in the village as a telegraph operator. After a year of work at the plant, Chernovolenko is sent on a business trip to Moscow and Sevastopol to solve the urgent problems of the plant. In Sevastopol, he has to control the construction of the ship Sergo Ordzhonikidze for the Sikhali plant. Notes V. T. Return to Moscow

At the end of 1934, the contract for work at the Sikhali plant expired and VT Chernovolenko returned to Moscow to the factory, where he worked before leaving for the Far East. In February 1935, his wife Maria Filippovna Drozdova-Chernovolenko came to him and got a job as a telegraph specialist. In Moscow, Chernovolenko continues his career and meets friends on Amaravella. At the end of 1937, he again went to work at the Sikhali plant and returned in 1938 .

World War II

During World War II , V.T. Chernovolenko worked at a military factory.

Acquaintance with Yu. N. Roerich

In 1958, Viktor Tikhonovich was introduced to the orientalist and traveler Yuri Nikolaevich Roerich , who brought to Moscow the paintings of Nikolai Konstantinovich Roerich, bequeathed to Russia, to Moscow.

“The meeting with Yuri Nikolaevich was an exceptional milestone for me in life. He saw my works and listened to my musical improvisations. He liked everything. I really valued his opinion. Yuri Nikolaevich was for me, and not only for me, but also for others with whom he was familiar, a very great authority. With his attitude to my work, he supported me and inspired me with confidence: what I do is necessary for people. I started to work with great joy, with a great uplift in my soul. ” [3]

Retirement. Second Wind

In 1960, Viktor Tikhonovich Chernovolenko retired and now he can completely devote himself to creativity. Exhibitions of paintings by Chernovolenko took place in the halls of many institutes, in the State Memorial Museum of A. N. Scriabin , in some editorial offices of newspapers and magazines. From 1960 until his death in 1972, he created more than 250 watercolors and 20 paintings. [7]

Death

On September 30, 1972, V.T. Chernovolenko suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. October 16 at 07:30 he dies. He was buried in Moscow at the Vagankovsky cemetery .

Interesting Facts

  • In 1936, the publishing house "Young Guard" published a book by M. S. Polyanovsky "Tropical Flight", in which the author describes his journey from the Black Sea to the Far East on the ship "Sergo Ordzhonikidze."
