Mozambique Range

The Mozambique Range is an underwater ridge in the Indian Ocean , southeast of the African continent , south of Mozambique . To the south-west of the ridge is the Agulias Basin , to the east is the Mozambique Basin . The length is about 1100 km, the width is 300 km, the smallest depth is 1207 m, the average is 2900 m. It is composed of a continental-type crust, therefore it is sometimes regarded as an extension of the continental margin of Africa .

The fauna is represented by approximately 130 species of fish from 44 families. [one]

The ridge was investigated by the Danish research vessel Galatea in 1951 [2] , YugNIRO in 1976-1988.
