Ballophilidae

Ballophilidae (lat.) - a family of leg - footed centipedes from the geophile squad. About 30 species from 12 genera. Africa (including Kenya), Madagascar, Central and South America (including Mexico), Fiji, New Caledonia, Australia (1 species), Southeast Asia (including the Philippines). Usually do not exceed 30 mm in length, have up to 83 body segments. Coloring is various: yellow, black, brown, violet. Close to the family Schendylidae [1] [2] . There are known termitophilic species, for example, Ballophilus foresti Demange, 1963 was found in the abandoned termite maker Macrotermes bellicosus (in Mont Nimba Guinea, Africa ), and the species Taeniolinum integer (Chamberlin, 1926) in the termite nest Anoplotermes gracilis Snyder ( Panama , South America ) [3] .
