Rajputan Agency in 1909 with the province of Ajmer Mervara in the center
Ajmer Mervara is a province of British India , and later the Indian Union , which existed in 1818-1950.
When the Marathian clan of Shinde lost the third Anglo-Marath war , Daulat Rao Shinde was forced to transfer part of his lands to the British. These lands, separated from other lands subordinated to the British by the Indian principalities, constituted a separate province of Ajmer-Mervara. The province was governed by a chief commissioner subordinate to the Rajputan Agency .
After the partition of British India, the province of Ajmer Mervara became a province of the Indian Union . On January 26, 1950, the Indian Constitution entered into force, according to which the province became a category “C” state, called Ajmer .
