Nurjan Taylan ( tour. Nurcan Taylan ; born October 29, 1983 , Ankara , Turkey ) is a Turkish weightlifter , world and Olympic champion in the lightest weight category (up to 48 kg). A graduate of the University of Gazi .

Biography
In 2002 and 2003 became the European champion among juniors, in 2004 in Kiev won the European Championship among adults (weight category up to 53 kg). In the same year, as part of the Turkish team at the Athens Olympics, she won a gold medal in the under 48 kg category with world records in the snatch (97.5 kg) and in the combined event (210 kg, repeating her own result).
After Nurjan Taylan defended the head coach of the national team Mehmet Yustyundag , accused of beatings, sexual harassment and coercion by other Turkish weightlifters of doping [1] , the Turkish Weightlifting Federation suspended Taylan from performing for two years.
After resuming her sports career, Nurjan Taylan showed unstable results. So at the 2007 World Cup she was not able to lift the declared weight in the clean and jerk , and at the Beijing Olympics she did not make a single successful attempt at a jerk . Moreover, in 2008-2011, she four times became the European champion, and in 2010 she won the world championship in Antalya . In the fall of 2011, during an out-of-competition test, Nurjan Taylan was convicted of doping and disqualified by the International Weightlifting Federation for 4 years [2] .
