Alamagan is a volcano located on the eponymous volcanic island , which belongs to the group of the Mariana Islands , USA .

Alamagan is a stratovolcano , 744 meters high. Located 30 km from the island of Pagan . The volcano consists mainly of basalts and andesites . The depth of the crater is 350 meters. Caldera volcano in diameter of about 2 km. The volcano is built unevenly. The northern and southern sides are flat, and the western and eastern sides are steep. The release of pyroclastic flows occurred about a little more than 1000 years ago. This eruption was the strongest among the other volcanic eruptions.

For the history of the volcano, it is reliably known about 4 volcanic eruptions. It was reported about large volcanic eruptions in the XIX century, but all of them were not confirmed. In 1999, an increased fumarolic activity was observed and there was a risk that the volcano would wake up. By that time, 5 people lived at the foot of the volcano, all of them were evacuated. Fumarolic activity was associated with precipitation after a long dry period. In 2007, there was a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.2 points, the epicenter of which was located 43 kilometers south-west of the island. The volcano behaved calmly at the same time.

At present, the volcano behaves calmly and there are no signs of activity.
