Methanoplanus (lat.) Is a genus of methane-forming archaea from the Methanomicrobiaceae family of the order Methanomicrobiales [2] .

- Methanoplanus endosymbiosus van Bruggen et al. 1986
- Methanoplanus limicola Wildgruber et al. 1984 typus
The species Methanoplanus petrolearius was transferred in 2015 to the genus Methanolacinia [1] .
