In January 1945, a reconnaissance group under the command of the Major Dikun Guard, consisting of six tanks , four armored personnel carriers and fifteen motorcycles, was given the task of capturing a crossing in the area of the city of Nakel and scouting the enemy’s location and strength. With a sudden blow, the scouts captured Nakel. The first tanks broke into the streets, followed by armored personnel carriers. A bold assault took parts of the Wehrmacht by surprise. As a result of the battle, 300 German soldiers and officers were destroyed. In the morning, the reconnaissance group was counterattacked by significant enemy forces - in a fierce battle, the group held the bridgehead on the west bank of the Natse River and the bridges across it until the main forces arrived .
Having received a new task, the reconnaissance group left the city with the task of capturing the village of Mrotschen . Forty kilometers again. On a march during an air raid, fighters from a heavy machine gun shot down an enemy aircraft and captured two pilots. On January 23, they immediately captured the city of Mrotschen, where more than 200 Soviet prisoners of war were released from the concentration camp . The Rosvedgruppe acted boldly and decisively behind enemy lines. After the capture of the city of Schneidemühl’s guard, Major Dikun, despite the difficult situation and injured, managed to break through the enemy’s ring.
