Content
AppearanceOne of the smallest members of the family. Its size does not exceed 30 cm; weight - 300-400 g. The color of the plumage is white, the bridle is light pink, the inner side of the fly and tail feathers is pale yellow. Crest is round, from small feathers of red color. The fuzzless area around the eyes is blue or light gray. A light orange streak passes through the forehead between the eyes. The beak is light, bone-colored. In females, the iris is red-brown, in males - black.
DistributionIt lives on the islands of Yamden and Larat ( Tanimbar archipelago, Indonesia ). Also imported to Puerto Rico and Singapore .
LifestyleInhabit high-altitude subtropical and tropical forests .
ReproductionNest in tree hollows. In clutch 2-3 eggs . Both parents hatch eggs: a female at night, a male during the day.
Threats and securityIt is listed in the International Red Book , has the status of a species close to a vulnerable position .
ContentsThis is a very common type of cockatoo, which has long and very often been kept in captivity. When solitary and paired, they quickly get used to the person and become tame. At dusk and at dawn they scream very loudly and unpleasantly.
