The development of virgin soil in the Pavlodar region

In 1954 , the development of virgin lands began. In Kazakhstan, from all over the USSR, there were trains with building materials, prefabricated panel houses, agricultural equipment, mobile power stations, and trucks. Together with machine operators, field teachers, teachers, doctors, engineers rode for virgin lands, which had a positive effect on the general level of village culture.

Instead of 750 thousand hectares proposed for development in the region, over a million hectares were plowed up.

During 1954 - 1956, Pavlodar residents plowed up over two million hectares of new land and, thus, expanded the total sown area by almost four times compared to 1953 , and the gross grain harvest increased eight times. During these years, 32 new state-owned grain farms and 8 MTS were created and equipped with the latest technology; from the fraternal republics and regions at the expense of the state about 50 thousand new settlers were sent to Pavlodar region for permanent residence. A huge number of tractors, combines, trucks, a variety of agricultural machinery and implements were released to equip agriculture of the region. The expansion of acreage and high yields have significantly strengthened the economy of collective and state farms, and at the same time the living standards of the working people have increased. Suffice it to say that in 1954 143 collective farms became millionaires, whereas there were only 17 of them before the development of virgin soil.

Thus, the development of virgin and fallow lands turned Pavlodar region into a major center of grain farming not only in Kazakhstan , but also in the Soviet Union . [one]
