Adolf Norten ( German: Adolph Northen , November 6, 1828 , Münden , Hanover - May 28, 1876 , Düsseldorf ) is a German battle painter of the 19th century.

Born in the Hanover town of Münden, he studied at the Dusseldorf School of Painting [4] .
As an artist, he specialized in the battle genre. In particular, at the events of the Napoleonic Wars . The most famous works of Norten include:
- “Napoleon’s Retreat from Moscow,” illustrating the collapse of the Napoleonic invasion of Russia;
- "Attack of the Prussians"
He died in Dusseldorf at the age of 47 years.
