Friday Night Lights is an American drama television series about Texas football coach Eric and his wife Tami Taylor, played by Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton . The series is an adaptation of Peter Berg's adaptation of the 2004 novel and film of the same name.

Filmed by NBC Universal , the series debuted on October 3, 2006, and after aired for two seasons on NBC . Although the series received very high reviews from critics, its ratings in the second season were on the verge of closure, as a result of which the channel entered into an agreement with DirecTV to jointly produce three more seasons that were originally aired on The 101 Network, a division of DirecTV, and after that, a few months later, on NBC [1] . The series ended on February 9, 2011, after five seasons [2] [3] .
The series "Friday Night Lights" has never achieved success in television ratings [4] . The project was loved by critics in particular for the realistic portrayal of residents of the Midwest and the vibrant personalities of the main characters. The early seasons were awarded the Peabody Prize and the Television Critics Association , three prizes from the American Film Institute , as well as several Emmys in technical categories [5] . The last season was nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Drama Series in 2011, and Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton in 2010 and 2011 were nominated for Best Actor in a Drama TV Series and Best Actor in a Drama TV Series ”Respectively, including Chandler’s victory in 2011. The series also won an Emmy in the category for“ Best Screenplay for a Drama Series ”in 2011 [5] [6] .
In 2007, Entertainment Weekly magazine included the series on its list of “Future Tele-Classics” [7] .
