Hans Vogel ( German Hans Vogel ; 1900 - 1980 ) is a German helminthologist . Known for his work in the field of research on parasitic worms .

Much of the scientific contribution was made by Fogel during his work at the Bernard Nocht Institute of Tropical Medicine in Hamburg ; from 1963 to 1968, he was the head of this institute.
In the 1930s, Vogel described the development cycle of Opisthorchis felineus . He studied and described in detail the life cycle and etiology of Echinococcus multilocularis . He participated in an experiment proving that macaques may be immune to Schistosoma japonicum , which causes schistosomiasis .
One type of tapeworm , Echinococcus vogeli , is named after him.
