Biography
He graduated from the 2nd Moscow classical gymnasium . While studying at the gymnasium, he was engaged in painting with his father's friend V. G. Perov . He studied at Moscow University and at the same time attended classes at the school of painting, sculpture and architecture , where his teacher was A.K. Savrasov .
In 1880, B. Bessonov became an official of the Ministry of Agriculture, served in the Nizhny Novgorod province, traveled extensively throughout Russia on duty, and was engaged in painting.
In 1907-1908, together with the Vologda governor A.N. Khvostov, he made two long, long and difficult trips around the Komi Territory. According to the results of the expeditions, whose goal was the exploration of Ukhta oil and future waterways to Siberia , he published two books that have not lost their relevance and historical interest to this day. In 1909 he again traveled to the Northern Urals . Based on the results of this trip, Bessonov also published two works in which he argued for the possibility of connecting the Ob and Pechora basins through the Ilych river valley.
In 1914, the resettlement administration published three volumes of Asian Russia, on the pages of which the work of Boris Vasilyevich on the creation of the Amur Cossack Army , its administrative structure, and land use of Cossacks was published. In 1915, Bessonov’s book, Russian Migrants in Northern Persia, was published, and in 1917, The Northern Provinces of Persia.
Later, he settles in Moscow, where he indulges in his favorite pastime, writes mostly landscapes.
Revolution and civil war force B. Bessonov to leave Russia forever. In 1922 he was evacuated to Constantinople , ended up on the island of Lemnos , and from there to France.
In Paris, settled in the gallery of L. Gerard, where he exhibited and sold landscapes.
The artist passed away on November 26, 1934 and was buried in Paris.
Creativity
Favorite motives of creativity were the winter Russian landscape and abandoned noble parks and estates. Through the mediation of the gallery fulfilled orders for South America and England. Since 1931, exhibited in the salon of the Independents. Works are stored in art museums in France and England.
One of B. Bessonov’s works “Winter View of Moscow” fell into the collection of antiques of the famous Russian couple M. Rostropovich - G. Vishnevskaya .
