Ruta Meyluté ( lit. Rūta Meilutytė ; March 19, 1997 , Kaunas ) - Lithuanian swimmer , Olympic champion (2012) [1] and world champion (2013) at a distance of 100 meters breaststroke , world vice-champion at a distance of 50 meters breaststroke (2013) , winner of two gold and one silver medals at the World Short Water Championship (2012). World record holder at distances of 50 and 100 meters breaststroke. The only winner of the Olympic medal in swimming in the history of Lithuania . He lives and trains in the UK .

Biography
She started swimming at the age of 5 with coach Hedrus Martininis [2] .
Since 2002, lives and trains in the UK , in the city of Plymouth . He trains under the guidance of John Ruda.
Summer Olympics 2012
At the Games, the 15-year-old Ruta Meilutite was among the youngest athletes, she took part in three disciplines, which she won at the 2011 European Youth Olympic Summer Festival: at 50 and 100 meters freestyle, she finished the competition in the preliminary heats , respectively, the 26th and 29th, while at the 50 meter distance, she set a national record. At the 100-meter breaststroke distance in the preliminary swims, the athlete showed the best time, setting a national record on the way, and in the semifinals she set a new European record 1: 05.21 [3] . In the final, Malutite won, becoming the first Lithuanian swimmer to win the Olympic medal, as well as the youngest Olympic champion in swimming in the last 16 years.
Completion of professional career
On May 22, 2019, Malutite announced the end of her professional career, after a trial was started on the athlete's passing three doping tests [4] [5] .
Family
Father - Saulius Meylutis. Ingrid's mother died in an accident in 2001 at the age of 34 years [2] . A year after the tragedy, his father moved to Plymouth, where he got a job as a nurse. He felt that his daughter had a talent for swimming and gave his daughter to the swimming club Plymouth Leander - one of the leading clubs in the UK.
Ruta has two older brothers - Margiris and Mindaugas.
