Biography
Dimitri Voskresensky was born on September 7, 1869 in the village of Urusovo, Alatyrsky district, Simbirsk province [1] in the family of priest Vasily Dmitrievich Voskresensky.
His mother, Anna Ivanovna, died in 1875 during childbirth. His father, Vasily Dmitrievich, died in 1907 , having become infected with typhus from a peasant whom he communed.
His grandfather, Dmitry Ivanovich Resurrection, also served as a priest in the Nizhny Novgorod province.
D. Voskresensky entered the Simbirsk Theological Seminary and graduated from it in 1891 on the second category. The first place of service was the parish school of the village of Urusovo. Already in 1892, Dmitry was appointed psalm reader; in 1895, he was ordained a priest in the village of Polibino, Alatyr district. In 1902, Dmitry Vasilyevich moved to the village of Novy Monadyshi, Ardatovsky district. From 1908 to 1911 he was a member of the apostolic council. In 1911 he was moved to the village of Anastasovo (formerly Kurmyshsky district), in which he served as a priest until his arrest in 1937.
During his service he was awarded prizes: in 1905 he was awarded a nabedrennik , in 1916 - a kamilavka , in 1922 - a pectoral cross. Later he was elevated to the rank of archpriest .
Dmitry's wife, Elizaveta Nikolaevna Voskresenskaya (Ostroumova), was also born in the family of a priest. Dmitry Vasilievich and Elizaveta Nikolaevna had 7 children: Boris, Nikolay, Alexandra, Olga, Vasily, Valentin and Lydia.
Until 1937, D. Voskresensky served in the church of St. Nicholas of the village of Anastasovo in the Poretsk District of the Chuvash ASSR. Arrested in October 1937, on a false denunciation. Father Dmitry Voskresensky died in Alatyr colony number 1 (v. Pervomaysky) on May 22, 1938.
In 2000, reincarnated as a martyr. In December 27, 2007, the decision of the Holy Synod is canonized.
