Mark Z. Danilevsky ( born Mark Z. Danielewski ; born March 5, 1966 , New York ) is an American writer. The most famous work of Danilevsky is the novel House of Leaves (2000). The writer experiments with narrative forms, uses complex and multi-layered forms of presentation, applies various typographic design of pages in books, also known as visual or ergodic writing.

Biography
Danilevsky was born in New York, USA [1] , the son of the Polish director Ted Danilevsky ( born Tad Danielewski ) and brother of the singer and author Annie Danilevsky ( born Poe ).
Mark studied English literature at Yale . He later moved to the University of California at Berkeley , where he studied Latin in the summer program. He also lived in Paris for some time, mainly in literature.
In the early 1990s, Mark attended courses at the School of Television and Cinematography ( Eng. USC School of Cinematic Arts ). Later he worked as an assistant sound editor in a documentary about the life of a French literary critic and philosopher of Algerian origin Jacques Derrida [2] .
The Leaf House is Mark’s first novel, for which he has received numerous awards, including the New Lions Young Lions Public Library Award (in prose nomination). The second novel, Coups, was released in 2006. Although he did not attract as much attention from critics, he was awarded the 2006 National Literary Award.
In 2000, Danilevsky and his sister traveled all over America, drawing public attention to the sister album Haunted , which used the plot of House of Leaves.
Mark is a fan of the Scottish band “ Biffy Clyro ”, which used the title of his novel “Coups” for their album [3] .
On September 15, 2010, Danilevsky’s new novel was announced:
... this month, publishers will receive the first five volumes from a 27-volume story entitled "Familiar" and narrating about a 12-year-old girl who found a kitten ...
