Biography
Born October 26, 1925 in the village of Belyaevka , now the city of Odessa region. He worked as a worker at the Rodina State Farm, Belyaevsky District. Since August 1941, he was in the temporarily occupied territory.
After the liberation of the village in April 1944, he was drafted into the Red Army . He took part in the battles of World War II from July 1944. From the first days he proved himself a brave warrior. Particularly distinguished during the Lublin-Brest offensive operation .
During World War II
The 8th Guards Army of the 1st Belorussian Front, which served as the machine gunner of the 117th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 39th Guards Rifle Division of the Guard, Red Army Kravchenko, being in the direction of the main strike, broke through the Nazi defenses north of Kovel on July 18, 1944. In the course of a further offensive, she went to the Western Bug River .
On July 21, 1944, Kravchenko was the first to cross to the right bank of the Western Bug River and with the help of machine guns drew the attention of the enemy, which allowed the rest of the group to force the river without losses.
During the capture of the city of Helm during an attack to a height of 220.0, he destroyed seven enemy soldiers and captured three more and set a red banner at a height.
July 28, Soviet troops reached the Vistula .
On the afternoon of August 1, 1944, the Red Army soldier Kravchenko was the first to overcome Vistula near the village of Osemborow near the village of Magnushev and immediately entered the battle. On the first conquered house, he hoisted a flag. In battles to expand the bridgehead, he participated in overcoming the heavily fortified enemy defense line, and destroyed 13 enemy soldiers with machine gun fire. When the enemy introduced three self-propelled guns into battle, confusion arose in the advancing units. Kravchenko moved forward and knocked out one of them with a grenade, the rest left their positions. Thanks to the bold actions of Kravchenko, the situation was restored, and the bridgehead on the left bank of the river was held until the main forces of the regiment approached.
During the attack of the assault gun, Kravchenko was seriously injured.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for the courage, bravery and heroism shown in the fight against Nazi invaders, the guard, Red Army soldier Kravchenko Sergey Trofimovich, was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
He was treated for a long time in hospitals and never returned to the front. After the war, demobilized. He lived and worked in his native village.
He died on October 26, 1956.
