Lilly Becher ( German: Lilly Becher , nee. Corps; January 27, 1901 , Nuremberg - September 20, 1978 , East Berlin ) is a German writer and journalist. Wife of Johannes Robert Becher .

Biography
Lilly studied at the Munich gymnasium and studied languages at the University of Heidelberg . In 1919 she joined the Communist Party of Germany . She worked at the Munich publishing houses and in the newspaper Die Rote Fahne in Berlin. In 1922-1923, she headed the female branch of the KKE in the district of Berlin-Neukölln. In 1924-1926, she headed the women's magazine Die Arbeiterin , which she founded, and worked as a proofreader and editor at Neuer Deutscher Verlag . In the years 1932-1933 she held the position of chief editor of the newspaper Arbeiter Illustrierte Zeitung .
In 1933-1934 she lived in Vienna , and then until 1936 she worked at the Editions du Carrefour publishing house in Paris , where she met her future husband Johannes Becher. In 1936, Lilly Becher published the first documents on the persecution of Jews by the National Socialists under the title “Yellow Spot”. Until 1945, Lilly Becher lived in Moscow and worked as a translator in a state publishing house, as well as in the journal Foreign Literature and the German department of the Moscow Radio and the Free Germany National Committee .
Upon returning to Germany, she joined the ranks of the Socialist Unified Party of Germany . In the years 1945-1950 she served as chief editor at the Neue Berliner Illustrierte . After the death of her husband in 1958, she headed the archive bearing his name at the Berlin Academy of Arts .
