History
Although the museum was opened to the general public only in 1991, the foundations of its collection were laid back in the early sixties, when Luxembourg transporters began to collect artifacts related to the history of public transport in this city. At the same time, models of historical trams on a scale of 1: 8 were made in the workshops of the city transport company in Luxembourg. These models were demonstrated at exhibitions dedicated to the thousandth anniversary of the city (1963) and the closure of the city tram system (1964). On March 27, 1991, the museum opened to the general public.
Collection
The museum’s collection includes four genuine tram cars (two motor and two trailed), a modern replica of the Konka car, two buses and a company car tower for servicing the contact network. In addition to these full-scale exhibits, the museum’s collection includes 22 models of trams and buses on a 1: 8 scale, numerous artifacts (the form of public transport workers, tickets, etc.) and documents and about eight thousand photographs.
