(1869) Filoctetus ( dr. Greek Φιλοκτήτης ) - a typical Trojan asteroid of Jupiter moving at Lagrange point L 4 , 60 ° ahead of the planet. The asteroid was discovered on September 24, 1960 by American astronomers C. Y. van Houten , I. van Houten-Gruneveld and Tom Gerels at the Palomar Observatory and is named after Philoktet , one of the participants in the Trojan War [1] .
