History
The street was designed according to the regular plan of 1778 and was named Bolshaya Rozhdestvenskaya according to the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin . The street ran from Elijah Square (the square near the Church of Elijah the Prophet ) to the square near the Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Church on Vspolye (the church was demolished in the early 1930s). In April 1918 it was renamed Bolshaya Oktyabrskaya Street in honor of the October Revolution of 1917 . In 1984, part of the street from Sovetskaya Square to Epiphany Square was separated and named Nakhimson Street .
In 2009 - 2010 In preparation for the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of Yaroslavl , a large-scale reconstruction of the street was carried out. In the summer of 2009 , the tram tracks were dismantled (the last historical tram site in the city), the underground communications and the street airbag were completely replaced, Bolshaya Oktyabrskaya received new sidewalks and road barriers.
Reconstruction 2009 - 2010 (with the removal of tram tracks) st. Ukhtomskogo , into which Bolshaya Oktyabrskaya passes into its eastern alignment, was allowed to directly connect the central square and the main railway station of the city through these two streets by bus, trolleybus and road connections.
