The length of the mantle is 15 cm, the length of the body with tentacles is 1 m [2] . Weight is about 400 g. The body of the octopus is painted bright red with white fluorescent spots.
Active at night. It feeds on bivalve mollusks, crustaceans, fish and other octopuses.
Reproductive biology is poorly understood. Reproduction occurs from spring to late summer. The female lays several hundred eggs. During the incubation period, the female does not leave the clutch and dies of exhaustion shortly after the hatching of the cubs. The length of the hatched cubs is 4 mm; they are fully formed as adult animals.
