Kotelsky zakaznik is a state nature complex integrated reserve . Located on the territory of Kingisepp district of the Leningrad region , 10 km north of the village of Kotly .

The territory of the reserve stretches for 30 km in a south-west direction from the central part of the Koporskaya Bay of the Gulf of Finland . The reserve's area is 12,100 ha, including lakes - 3,000 ha, the Gulf of Finland - 50 ha. The purpose of the creation is to preserve the natural complexes of forests of the southern taiga type and the lake-river network with rare species of plants and animals.
Broad-leaved forests of oak , maple , ash , and hazel grow in the natural reserve. Small and large game - elk , wild boar , wolf , fox , badger , black ferret , raccoon dog are found in forests. The lakes located in the reserve ( Sudachye , Khabolovo , Babinskoye , Glubokoe ) are rich in fish .
