5 (Murder by Numbers) - a mixtape of the American rapper 50 Cent , released on July 6, 2012 . The album was supposed to be the fifth studio album, after Before I Self Destruct , but due to tensions with Interscope Records , 50 Cent instead decided to make 5 (Murder by Numbers) a mixtape, releasing it for free download and subsequently releasing a new album with new tracks already in the fifth studio album .

About the album
During recording 5 (Murder by Numbers) , 50 Cent listened to various music performed by his favorite artists. Including rappers Tupac Shakur and The Notorious BIG . In an interview with the Detroit Free Press, 50 Cent explained these actions, stating:
I listen to these tracks in order to raise myself ... It makes it clear how good my music should be before I release them.

In the same interview, he described the album as an album with a completely new sound, and feels that it is a “sincere” and “more mature” work than his previous albums.
50 Cent confirmed the title of the album in an interview with Hot 107.9 Philly on June 13, 2012.
