Biography

Born in the family of a Muslim Ossetian. He graduated from the Stavropol classical gymnasium. In 1899 he entered the law faculty of Moscow State University , participated in the student movement, in December 1905 - in the revolutionary events in Vladikavkaz [1] .

In 1902-1904 he was an employee of the newspaper "North Caucasus". Since 1910, he published articles in the newspaper "Responses of the Caucasus" and the magazine "In the Caucasus." In 1917, he was editor of the newspaper Izvestia of the All-Russian Muslim Council. In 1919 - editor of the newspaper "Free Highlander", which appeared in Tiflis.

From July to the end of December 1920, he was the publisher and editor of the newspaper Nog Tsard (New Dawn) in Tiflis.

He was one of the leaders of the Menshevik faction in the RSDLP [2] .

On May 8, 1917, A. Tsalikov became a member of the organizing committee of the All-Russian Congress of Muslims and made a report at it. One of the ideas of his report is the cultural autonomy of Muslims as part of the state. Elected to the All-Russian Constituent Assembly in the Simbirsk constituency according to list No. 8 (Muslim shuro) [3] .

At the 4th Congress of the Peoples of the Terek in Vladikavkaz (July - August) he was elected a member of the Ossetian faction of the Terek People’s Council. In 1918 he headed the Mejlis of the mountain peoples of the Caucasus in Tiflis. In 1919, a member of the delegation of this Majlis sent from Tiflis to Dagestan to lead the uprising of the Highlanders against the army of General A.I. Denikin. Member of the Council of Defense of Dagestan (created in October) to fight Denikin.

After the victory of the Soviet regime in Georgia (February 1921) [1] he emigrated to Czechoslovakia, and then to Poland. In Czechoslovakia, he was the editor of the journal "Caucasian Highlander". In this magazine he published "Notes of the Caucasian", which became an early version of the novel "Brother to Brother", which was published in 1926 as a separate publication in Prague.

In Poland, he lived in Otwock . Died in Prague (Warsaw district) .

The author of a number of works on the history of the Caucasus [2] .
